CINEMA NOUN

Cinema Noun is an initiative for a nomadic film club, currently based in the oasis of Tighmert. The collective is formed by Ahmed Dabah, Laila Hida, Jake McCarthy and Niki Kohandel. By facilitating analogue film-making workshops and screenings, the project invites children and young people to craft their own representations of the oasis and its stories on film.
During this first edition, participants learned how to shoot and hand-process their own Super8 film, and explored cameraless animation techniques on 16mm. The programme closed with a multi-channel, analogue projection of their work with live music by Oussama Belkihal. The public screening programme brought together works by Terra Long, Laila Hida, Niki Kohandel and more.
